Weddings/Birthday Parties

Posted on by admin

In my last blog I touched on the fact that I remember a lot of my birthday party gigs in comparison to my wedding gigs and I have been pondering over why this is!!! I love performing at both, but birthday parties always seem to stick out in my mind! Why is this?

I think my answer to this question is that birthday parties are much much more relaxed, there is hardly any tension from the guests themselves. Guests at weddings are trying to get to know both families and playing the day by the book at the times things are taking place. Whereas at birthday parties, you turn up and you have a good time it is really as simple as that! There are no rules to follow or ways to act. On the other hand by the end of the night, at weddings the guests have generally been drinking right through the day up to the point where in the evening they really couldn’t care less what others think of them and can really enjoy themselves and have a good time!

The comparison is interesting for me to ponder over as different events do obviously create different atmospheres and certain etiquettes to follow. As a singer/performer I need to always be aware of this and create the right show for the right people. Since starting performing way, way back when I was 19! I have come a hell of a long way, learning how to interact with the crowd the best way possible, I really feel I have finally cracked it! I feel capable of performing and entertaining all different types of people at all different types of events now. I have full confidence in myself and my act and what I provide.
